Volunteering at New Life International Soup Kitchen

Serving the Children of the Lima Area and the World!

The Kiwanis Club of Lima, Ohio was founded in 1919, one of the oldest clubs in Kiwanis International which was founded in 1915.  During this time, the Lima Kiwanis Club has been an integral part of the community serving the children of Allen County. Included in our major projects was the contribution of land for Camp Woodhaven for the use of the Girl Scouts; providing sapling trees to all first graders in Allen County; supporting the Allen County Museum by funding and providing volunteers for the One Room Schoolhouse; and giving annual music scholarships through the Ron Richards Scholarship Fund.

The club fosters fellowship through weekly luncheon meetings. Meetings are held at 11:30 AM on Tuesdays at the Milano Club. The weekly program features a speaker on a topic of interest to members.  The business meeting occurs the third Tuesday of each month. For further information please  contact  Robert L Day, Jr. at

Lima Kiwanis - Serving the Community

The Kiwanis Club of Lima Ohio is an active member of the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce and supports community efforts including Family Promise of Lima-Allen County and the Allen County Museum Christmas Tree Festival. During the summer of 2015, thanks to a grant from the Kiwanis Foundation, our club partnered with the Heartland Image Foundation to sponsor a three-week intense bootcamp for students to learn filmmaking from industry professionals.  Students learned from a wide array of artists-in-residence and produced a product to industry standards that was broadcast as a public service announcement (PSA) for our local club.

Our members are involved in the community. Kiwanis members volunteer monthly at the Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and provide a meal quarterly for the New Life International Soup Kitchen.  They also volunteer at the Visitor's Center Little Blue Caboose during the summer.

Funding for Kiwanis activities comes from the annual barbecue held in the spring at Apollo Career Center, by selling rides tickets at the Allen County Fair and from individual and corporate sponsors.  Among our sponsors are:

Berry Insurance Bindel's, Inc

Chiles Laman Funeral &
Cremation Services

Orthodontic Associates PROforma Add a Line Potash Corporation
WalMart Corporation Webb Insurance Lima City Schools

A generous grant from WalMart Corporation provides funds to buy cleaning supplies for graduates of Family Promise to use in their new homes. Thanks to member Heather Patterson for spearheading this great activity.

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Lima OH are also members of the
Ohio District of Kiwanis International and Kiwanis International
