The Kiwanis Club of Lima, Ohio was founded in 1919, one of the oldest clubs in Kiwanis International which was founded in 1915. The Lima Kiwanis Club is in Division II of the Ohio District of Kiwanis International. Since it was chartered, the Lima Kiwanis Club has been an integral part of the community serving the children of Allen County.

Included in our major projects was the contribution of land for Camp Woodhaven for the use of the Girl Scouts; we currently provide sapling trees to all first graders in Allen County; support the Allen County Museum by funding and providing volunteers for the One Room Schoolhouse; and support music education by presenting annual music scholarships through the Ron Richards Scholarship Fund and presenting the John Phillip Sousa Awards to area high schools students. The club raised $33,000 for the Eliminate Project and is embarking on the next signature project by upgrading the playgroud and facilities at Camp Robin Rogers, a camp for special needs youth and adults.

The club fosters fellowship through weekly luncheon meetings. Meetings are held at 11:30 AM on Tuesdays at the Milano Cafe, 2383 Elida Road, Lima, OH. The weekly program features a speaker on a topic of interest to members.  The business meeting occurs the third Tuesday of each month. Lima Kiwanis - Serving the Community

The Kiwanis Club of Lima Ohio is an active member of the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce and supports community efforts including Family Promise of Lima-Allen County and the Allen County Museum Christmas Tree Festival. During the summer of 2015, thanks to a grant from the Kiwanis Foundation, our club partnered with the Heartland Image Foundation to sponsor a three-week intense bootcamp for students to learn filmmaking from industry professionals.  Students learned from a wide array of artists-in-residence and produced a product to industry standards that was broadcast as a public service announcement (PSA) for our local club.

Our members are involved in the community. Kiwanis members volunteer monthly at the Our Daily Bread Community Center and provide a meal quarterly for the New Life International Community Center.  They also volunteer at the Visitor's Center Little Blue Caboose during the summer.

Funding for Kiwanis activities comes from the annual barbecue held in the spring at Apollo Career Center, by selling rides tickets at the Allen County Fair and from individual and corporate sponsors.  Among our sponsors are:

Berry Insurance Bindel's, Inc

Chiles Laman Funeral &
Cremation Services

Orthodontic Associates PROforma Add a Line Potash Corporation
WalMart Corporation Webb Insurance Lima City Schools
